Shockwave Therapy for Chronic Pain That Won't Quit
If you've been dealing with the same nagging pain for months — or years — and nothing has worked, shockwave therapy is worth a serious conversation. Non-invasive. No anesthesia. No downtime.
No up-front care plans. No payments up front. Ever.

What is shockwave therapy?
High-Energy Acoustic Waves That Trigger Real Healing
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) uses focused acoustic pressure waves to stimulate healing in damaged tissue. The word "shockwave" sounds intense — it isn't. There's no electrical shock involved. The waves are mechanical, similar to ultrasound but more powerful and targeted.
When these waves pass through injured tissue, they increase blood flow, break down calcified deposits, stimulate collagen production, and trigger the body's natural repair process. Essentially, they wake up tissue that has stopped healing on its own.
It's particularly effective for chronic conditions involving tendons, ligaments, and fascia — areas with poor blood supply that tend to heal slowly or incompletely without intervention.
What to expect
Simple. Fast. No Recovery Time.
Evaluation first
Dr. Reynolds will assess your injury and confirm shockwave is appropriate for your condition. Not every condition is a good fit — we'll tell you honestly if something else is likely to work better.
The treatment itself
A handheld applicator is pressed against the skin over the treatment area. You'll feel a rhythmic tapping sensation — some patients describe mild discomfort in the first minute or two, which typically fades as the tissue responds. Each session takes 15–20 minutes.
Right after
You can walk out and go about your day. There's no anesthesia, no incisions, and no recovery period. Some patients feel mild soreness for 24–48 hours — that's a normal inflammatory response and a sign the tissue is responding.
The full course
Most patients need 3–6 sessions, spaced about a week apart. Many report noticeable improvement after the first or second treatment. Results continue to develop for several weeks after the final session as the tissue finishes remodeling.
What we treat
Conditions That Respond Well to Shockwave
Shockwave therapy is most effective for chronic musculoskeletal conditions — especially those involving tendons and fascia that haven't responded to rest, physical therapy, or injections.
Plantar Fasciitis
Heel pain that's worst in the morning or after sitting. One of the most common and most successfully treated conditions with ESWT.
Achilles Tendinopathy
Chronic pain and stiffness in the Achilles tendon, especially in runners and active adults. Shockwave stimulates tendon repair where blood supply is limited.
Tennis & Golfer's Elbow
Lateral and medial epicondylitis — persistent elbow pain from repetitive strain. Often resolves with 3–5 sessions when other treatments have failed.
Rotator Cuff Tendinitis
Shoulder pain from inflamed or partially torn rotator cuff tendons. Shockwave reduces inflammation and promotes tissue regeneration.
Calcific Shoulder Tendinitis
Calcium deposits in the shoulder tendons cause sharp, severe pain. Shockwave breaks down the deposits and accelerates reabsorption.
Patellar Tendinopathy
Knee pain below the kneecap — common in athletes and active patients. Also called "jumper's knee." Responds well to ESWT.
Chronic Muscle Trigger Points
Stubborn knots in muscle tissue that cause referred pain patterns. Shockwave disrupts the trigger point and restores normal muscle function.
Hip Bursitis
Inflammation of the bursa around the hip joint causing lateral hip pain. Shockwave reduces inflammation and promotes healing in the surrounding tissue.
Why consider shockwave?
When You've Already Tried Everything Else
Most of our shockwave patients come to us after months — sometimes years — of trying other things. That's exactly who this treatment is designed for.
Shockwave therapy isn't a first-line treatment for acute injuries. It's most valuable for chronic conditions — pain that has persisted for 3 months or more despite rest, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, or cortisone injections.
It's also a compelling alternative for patients who want to avoid surgery. Studies show success rates of 70–80% for conditions like plantar fasciitis and calcific shoulder tendinitis — comparable to surgical outcomes, without the recovery time or risk.
We'll be straightforward with you: shockwave isn't right for everyone. Contraindications include blood clotting disorders, active infections, pregnancy, and certain cancers. We review your history before recommending it.
